It's a little scary at first, but you learn quickly an it's pretty enjoyable. You don't realize how much work goes into it.

Working at the poll has really opened my eyes to the world of voting. I never knew how many people were involved in making something work that seems so simple from a voter's perspective.

While working as a PollWorker, I never knew how much was involved with the voting process. However I found out it was an interesting experience, and opened my eyes to what an election has to offer such as; hard work and people working together for a common goal.

I never thought about all of the work that goes into the voting process. It really makes me proud to see how passionate people are about the election. I’ve developed a newfound respect for PollWorkers and the voting process in general. I am thrilled that I took this opportunity to work for the election.

The majority of the people working for the government were much older than I would have expected. They were obviously people that cared about the country and its voting policies, because most of them had been working the polls for years. Sadly, most of them stated that the day was slower than they had expected or wanted. It seems like such a small, minute detail when you as one person do not vote but when everyone has that same idea, it makes a big difference.

After Prof. Mike Harris told me that he was the originator of the now-popular (and un-patented) AIDS slogan, 'Be Frisky Not Risky,' he proceeded to share stories about his career as a model (in which he went 10 years without having to buy clothes) his traveling the world, his numerous high-profile campaign jobs, his 13-movie acting streak and lastly, his contribution to the screen play of Tarantino's Machete. Although he couldn't have been happier to be helping with the poll work, he also couldn't stop dancing in excitement as he counted down the ballots left until he was able to leave for his celebration party downtown at the Driskill Hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed the short-lived company of Prof. Harris as his exit was just as colorful as his greeting with the words, "I'll drink one for you, Erin. Actually, make that three!"

Working as a PollWorker was a fun and interesting experience where we saw first hand how the election process is handled. We talked to many experienced poll workers and learned some valuable information about our country's government elections. Learning about different cultures is very important to our fraternity, so when we got a chance to learn about our country's government and our own culture as Americans we couldn't pass it up.
